Ajyal Film Festival to screen ‘Before Darkness’

The upcoming edition of the Ajyal Film Festival in Qatar has been set to screen Iranian short flick ‘Before Darkness’.

‘Before Darkness’ will take part in the 9th edition of the Qatari event.

Written and directed by Mosayyeb Hanaee, the film is based on a true story.

It is about a woman who has crossed into Iran along with other Afghans as they want to illegally travel to Turkey.

The woman, who is accompanied by her child, can’t take her child with her as she can’t afford the smuggling fees.

The film’s cast list includes Shahbanou Mohammadi, Iraj Tadayyon, Reza Ahmadi, and Narges Hezareh.

‘Before Darkness’ was awarded at the 35th Tehran International Short Film Festival in Iran.

Iranian feature ‘A Hero’ by internationally acclaimed director Asghar Farhadi will open this year’s edition of the Ajyal Film Festival.

The ninth edition of the Ajyal Film Festival, which is presented by the Doha Film Institute (DFI), will be held on November 7-13.
